California Rêverie, the beauty of the Californian sun in a bottle

Founded in 1906 with a Place Vendôme boutique, the Van Cleef & Arpels brand was born thanks to the love of Estelle Arpels and Alfred Van Cleef . Also in love with precious stones, the couple decided to go into jewelry. Their talent and know-how will help make Van Cleef & Arpels a benchmark in French luxury. Despite the horrors of World War II, the brand continues to grow. It will be in 1976 that their first perfume is born “First”. In 2014, the Van Cleef & Arpels house presented a very luminous fragrance, “California Rêverie”.

California Rêverie, a Van Cleef & Arpels fragrance between dream and reality

“California Rêverie” is the captivating interpretation of one of the noblest raw materials, sambac jasmine. The fragrance which is one of the brightest perfumes is also, thanks to the jasmine, one of the sunniest. On this subject, the Van Cleef & Arpels house affirms, “I imagined a trip to the heart of a dreamy California, flooded with sunshine… Jasmine was obvious”.

This ingredient, very noble and highly prized in perfumery, here exudes ultra-floral, rich, elegant tones, as if it were one of the most beautiful jewelry sets from the prestigious Van Cleef & Arpels house. The latter was nevertheless inspired by the magical landscapes of California, which transports us on a half-real, half-imaginary journey that stretches across the entire west coast of the United States. “California Rêverie” is part of the brand’s “ Extraordinary Collection ” made up of 7 fragrances inspired by nature.

Jasmine sambac, the star of California Reverie

“California Rêverie” takes off on notes as fresh as they are luminous thanks to the presence of mandarin and neroli. The heart of “California Rêverie” contains all the beauty of sambac jasmine, associated with the frangipani flower, which confers unparalleled femininity. Along with the rose, jasmine is one of the most used flowers in niche perfumery. It is mainly sambac jasmine that is used and most of its production is located in Grasse, capital of perfume. In the East, jasmine is the symbol of beauty. Originally from southwest China, jasmine takes its name from an Arabic first name “Yasmina”.

The jasmine wedding corresponds to the 66 years of marriage. Jasmine gives off very floral, luminous, slightly vanilla and solar tones. Finally, the base of “California Rêverie” is filled with vanilla and beeswax for a trail that is both sensual and delicious. Uncluttered, the bottle is that of the “Extraordinary Collection” by Van Cleef & Arpels. In heavy glass, its transparency reveals the golden color of the precious nectar. The round black cap offers the ultimate touch of elegance.
